Plantar Fasciitis

Personal Fit For A Personal Solution

The Plantar Fascia is the ligament that connects the heel to the toes. It supports the arch of your foot. It can become inflamed or strained as a result of intense activity or simply from day-to-day activity. This can cause pain in the heel or bottom of the foot when standing or walking. Collapsing arches pull and tear the ligaments with every step, never allowing time for proper healing.

Common Causes & Symptoms

Plantar Fasciitis, the strain of the ligament causing soreness in the heel or bottom of the foot is likely to happen if:

  • Improperly fitting footwear

  • Feet that roll inward too much (also known as pronation)

  • Flat feet or fallen (low) arches

  • Walking, standing or running for long periods of time, especially on hard surfaces

  • Pain in the arch or heel of the foot noticed with the first steps in the morning. This pain usually subsides to a manageable pain after the day wears on

  • Pain and swelling in the heel of the foot

  • Pain and swelling in the arch of the foot

One way to tell is by checking your footprint the next time you get out of the shower.  If you don’t see a void in your footprint on the inside where your arch is, you likely have Plantar Fasciitis.

Recommended Solution

Staying off your feet, reducing the amount of standing, walking and activity can help relieve this pain. Ice can also be used to reduce inflammation. However, most of us can’t afford to take the time off that it requires for proper healing. We recommend Surethotics Custom orthotics for support of the arches and feet so that the Plantar Facia ligament doesn’t stretch and tear when walking. This allows the ligaments and muscles to heal properly and gives time for the inflammation to subside.

Full-Length Comfort Fit Orthotics

Our Full Length orthotics provide support and protection for your foot. They are especially effective in shoes where maximum shock absorption and durability are required. We recommend these for high-impact activities such as walking, running, hiking, golf and for those who work long hours on their feet. The padding and cushion extend from the heel all the way to the toes. They absorb impact and stabilize the feet. Because of the custom fit and size, you’ll want these to remain in the shoes or boots you use the most.

Metatarsal Active Support Orthotics

Our Metatarsal or half-length orthotics provide the same support and protection as the Full Length orthotics. They are shorter and have a thinner profile which makes it easy to slip in and out of different pairs of shoes. Our Metatarsal orthotics are a great choice for use in more low-volume shoes such as dress, stylish or every day shoes.
